Chess

Chess became my main hobby about 20 years ago when I started training at my local chess club in Germany. While my “career” in competitive chess dates back over 15 years (here are some of my brilliancies), I very much enjoy playing blitz chess at Chess.com and occasionally at local tournaments.

At Coffee Chess

While in Los Angeles in 2021, I had the chance to join the good folks at Coffee Chess. Their viral YouTube channel features some videos where I play, all of which have exponentially more views than anything I’ve ever written for my work. Oh, well…

This was a cool and very sharp game featuring opposite-side castling. Never forget that the knight is a fantastic defender…
The rematch, again an exciting one, this time with a better outcome for Noah. The endgame was extremely complex, especially under time pressure.
Not my best game as I should have converted the winning position I had at one point. Maybe I shouldn’t pay with sunglasses…

On Chess.com

If you want, you can find me bamboozling and flagging opponents, blundering, and tilting at Chess.com. My usual time control is 3+0.
